Spiced Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 c Water
  • 1 c Sugar
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 tsp Cloves ground
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 (12 oz.) bag Cranberries fresh

Instructions

Place water, sugar, cinnamon stick and cloves in a small sauce pot and bring to a boil.

Remove zest from orange by peeling it off with a vegetable peeler in one long strip. Add zest strip to the pot. Remove the rest of the white pith from the orange and discard. Remove the seeds, dice the orange flesh and add to the pot along with the cranberries. Return pot to a boil. Cranberries will begin to pop.

Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove orange peel and cinnamon stick and discard. Cover loosely and cool completely to room temperature. Reserve in the refrigerator until ready to use.
