Ingredients
- 10 oz extra-firm tofu
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp honey
- 3 cloves garlic crushed
- 1/2 in ginger peeled and grated
- 1 Bartlett pear grated
- 4 green onions finely chopped, whites and greens separated
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp canola oil
- handful of black and white sesame seeds
Instructions
Lightly press the tofu block to get the water out then wrap in paper towels and leave to one side.
Place 2T soy sauce, 1.5t honey, 3 cloves crushed garlic, ginger, pear, green onion whites, 2T sesame oil, and 1T water in a bowl.
Remove the tofu from the paper towels and cut into 1/2in slices.
Coat the bottom of a large non-stick frying pan with the canola oil and line a plate with some paper towels. Heat the oil until it reaches smoking point and fry tofu slices fo about 8 min until golden on both sides. Remove tofu to plate.
Remove all but a tablespoon of oil from the pan. Add soy and honey mixture and stir for a minute, then put the tofu back into the pan and cook for 5 min until sauce reduces and becomes thick and glossy.
To serve, place tofu in serving dish, pour sauce over the top, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and remaining green onions.
